Question:

Can I get a free annual credit bureau score report?

Answer:

According to Federal law, everyone is entitled to one free credit report per year from each credit bureau.

Bear in mind, Experian, Equifax and TransUnion will not provide you with a credit score. The only thing they will provide you on the free annual credit bureau score report is your credit report. The score, be it FICO based, or Vantage, has to be purchased separately.

It is recommended to order a credit report, as this will help you keep track of your credit history and you'll be able to spot derogatory items and request their removal. Also, the free annual credit bureau score report will help identify identity theft and fraud, as there is a rising trend of credit information abuse cases.

If you have been rejected on a loan application, you are also entitled to a free credit bureau report within 60 days of the rejection.
